Obama appoints openly gay man to board of advisors
President Obama last week announced his intention to appoint openly gay Reverend George B. Walker Jr. to the President’s Board of Advisors on Historically Black Colleges and Universities. From the Advocate:
Since October, Walker has been serving as vice president of strategic partnerships at the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund and Victory Institute. Prior to that he was the Victory Fund’s vice president of leadership initiatives, a position he held since 2008. He has also worked at the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy, the Human Rights Campaign, and the Center for Community Change.
Hooray for allies in high places! Obama’s really quite great at that, I must say.
